Historically, children have been and are still the most oppressed, exploited and victimized group of human beings on the planet. Children remain the most voiceless and the most discriminated against group of people in all societies. While every adult group has fought for and won basic human rights protections and freedoms (USA), children remain the only group of human beings without the same rights to equality, respect, protection from bodily harm and freedom of speech. In an era in history when social injustices are decried and combated aggressively, it is unthinkable that we have stopped short of fully including children when we fight for and establish basic human rights protections for all people. The purpose of this web site is to educate the public about the overlooked ways in which children's human rights are not protected; how these abuses have contributed to dysfunction in society; and how we can become true advocates for kids.

Welcome to the new format of ChildAdvocate.org!

Welcome to the new format and design of ChildAdvocate.org! With over 69,000 visitors since its debut 1999, ChildAdvocate.org is growing to reflect the crucial, desperate need in our culture for more accessible information on nonviolent and attachment-based parenting, alternatives to the toxic public schooling institution, resources for young people and other information about respecting the human rights of young people. ChildAdvocate.org’s Blog, written by me, website author Laurie A. Couture, will inform the public about resources and information about children’s needs and rights on a regular basis with the usual fierce, uncandy-coated honesty.

ChildAdvocate.org will be making more and more new pages live in the next couple of months and will be adding new, vital topics such as:

  • Attachment Parenting
  • How peaceful tribal cultures parent their children
  • The epidemic of drugging school children
  • More information about alternatives to public school
  • How traumatized and insecurely attached children are misdiagnosed with mental illnesses
  • How traditional mental health counseling doesn’t help traumatized children
  • What actually works and helps children with behavioral and mental health issues

ChildAdvocate.org will also be offering Services, a Search feature, more Resources for young people, and updates to permanent articles. I hope you enjoy the changes you will be seeing. Please be patient while we construct the new site and add new pages.

ChildAdvocate.org wants to thank Brenden Sanborn for his beautiful, stylish design and webwork, done voluntarily. Please remember that ChildAdvocate.org is brought to the public by volunteer services only. Donations help us keep the site online! Thank you!
